The Information Technology Lab at the School of Information provides a number of resources to the iSchool community.
One Team, Two Roles
The IT Lab is staffed by the “Purple Shirts,” expert teaching assistants whose role evolves as the needs of the iSchool do, however, there are two main roles of the Purple Shirts. Learn more about each role and the services provided below:
IT Lab
Located in UTA 1.210, the IT lab offers hardware, software, and specialized equipment utilized in iSchool courses, as well as print and equipment checkout services.
TA Pool
The Purple Shirts make up the “TA Pool” which supports the UT Information minor. The Purple Shirts assist students, faculty, and staff with technological instruction through in-person and online classes, course development, and more.
What Can the IT Lab Do for You?

TA Pool
The IT Lab staff also act as undergraduate Teaching Aides to iSchool faculty and staff.

Equipment & Book Checkout
The IT Lab provides a collection of books and equipment for students to borrow.

Software
The IT Lab provides a variety of software for students use including Adobe Creative Suite, Unity3D, and much more.

Tutorials
The IT Lab staff create video tutorials for a variety of tools and skills useful to iSchool students, faculty, and staff.

Printing & Scanning
The IT provides black/white printing, color printing, and scanning services for iSchool students and faculty.

Collaborative Spaces
Collaboration stations, computer labs, and sound booths are available for use by iSchool students and faculty.
